"Have you reckon’d a thousand acres much?" - Walt Whitman  from "Song of Myself"

Husky-German Shepherd, Outdoor Lover, Nature Appreciator

Brett adopted me from the local shelter in April 2025 during his final semester of teaching.  He wanted a running buddy and I make sure we cross these acres two or three times a day.  I give him more than he bargained for and I went to doggy heaven early chasing squirrels, deer, and turkeys here at Ridges.

The indigenous tribes from Michigan believed that when they died they transcended to "The Happy Hunting Ground," a place just like here because they could not envision a life better than what they already enjoyed. Neither can I.

I reckon Ridges' 160 acres much. I cannot get enough. I love to run here. I beg to hike. I drink deeply while I swim. I porpoise through the snow. I constantly put my nose where it does not belong. For people it may sound like a vacation, but for a dog, a way of life. Live like me for a morning or an afternoon and disconnect from your everyday world, immerse in nature and transcend on this earth to your "Happy Hunting Ground" self.

*Note* I am an exuberant young dog who loves people. I am easily excited walking in my favorite place so I may jump, bark, or zoom past you at full speed.  So you were warned.  Be ready for some big dog energy.
